Hi,
I received multiple reports that OGA failure notification message continued to appear in the application's toolbar area inspite of successfully validating on the site.
I did some research and finally found the reason ... users that had installed the short-life OGA v1.7.105.35 had 2 additional files installed, viz. OGAVerify.exe and OGAAddin.dll which gets installed as a macro that keeps getting executed at each application launch.
I have released my OGA v1.7.111.0 (posted here) [pswd:SupremoPhantom] again that should fix this issue. Use the new file and you should be good to go.
Till we meet again ... :-)
Cheers and Enjoy !!!

Claims that a software tool couldlet a person make a pirated copy of Microsoft's latest version of Windows work and look like a legitimate one were a hoax, its author admits.

A person calling himself Computer User had claimed on unofficial Windows news site KezNews.com that a so-called 'KeyGen' tool would generate a valid 25-character installation key that would activate an illicit copy of the latest Vista version of Windows.

The tool supposedly used a so-called 'brute force' method, randomly generating numbers matching the pattern of a Windows Vista activation key, which could then be entered during the operating system software's activation process. If successful, it would render the copy of Vista indistinguishable from one that was bought legitimately.

In a subsequent post to the KezNews discussion forums late Friday, Computer User retracted the claim.

'Fact is the brute force keygen is a joke, I never intended for it to work. I have never gotten it to work, everyone should stop using it!' Computer User wrote in a post to the KezNews discussion forum late Friday.

Computer User rejected claims by people who had downloaded and tried the tool and then posted comments saying it was successful in generating a valid activation key.

'Everyone who said they got a key [is] probably lying or mistaken!'

Had the tool been legitimate, it could have presented a customer service nightmare, Alex Koc suggested in a post to Microsoft's official 'Windows Genuine Advantage' blog. Windows Genuine Advantage is the name of the company's validation and software validation program.

'What would happen if a key that was hit upon was also the same key in use by a legitimate customer? Really, this would boil down to a customer-service issue and we would work to make sure that our customers are taken care of,' Koc wrote on Friday.

Koc noted that the key analysis performed through Microsoft servers was more 'rigorous' than that done by the software on the desktop and the scenario was therefore unlikely.

'But if anyone does hear of a report of a legit customer being refused a product activation on a genuine key, please let us know,' he wrote.
